They’re both major musical forces in the Latin realm, so it’s no wonder ex-spouses Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony were both in the house for the 2013 Premios Juventud Awards (Spanish Version of People’s Choice Awards) last night (July 18).
J. Lo also accepted the World Icon Award, telling the audience, “When I see all these images and you beautiful faces, I feel very fortunate to be here tonight. What I have always wanted to do with my life is to create, sing, dance, act and entertain; and be a good person.”

Jennifer Lopez covers the August 2013 issue of W and she talks about her relationship with her mother, as well as her life as a mom to twins Max and Emme.
When she was growing up in the Bronx, J. Lo and her mom were sometimes at odds. She said, “My mom and I butted heads. I didn’t want to go to college—I wanted to try dance full-time. I was homeless. But I told her ‘This is what I have to do.'”
With her own children, she wants to show, rather than tell, in terms of shaping their upbringing. “I think a lot about teaching my kids to work hard,” she said. “I’ve learned something about kids— they don’t do what you say; they do what you do. I watched my parents.”
Jennifer performed on stage on day 6 of British Summer Time Hyde Park on July 14th. She showed off her famous curves in a tight embellished bodysuit. Enjoy the pics below.

Spending the holiday weekend with her family, Jennifer Lopez enjoyed the waves in Malibu, CA on Friday (July 5). The 43-year-old singer frolicked on the gorgeous sands with her beau Casper Smart and twins Emme and Max Anthony.
After their beach session, the happy family headed over for a delicious bite to eat at the famous Geoffrey’s in the Cali town.
In related news, Jen got her fans amped up for her brand new studio album by sharing an exciting tweet, which read, “THANK U!! Great day baby!! #Album10 “‘@TheAceFace69: Amazing session with @JLo !!! Get ready for a crazy crazy record!!! #GOOOOOOOO!!!’”
Miss Lopez is expected to release her new tracks later this year.

Taking some time away from her tour, Jennifer Lopez graced the cover of W magazine’s August 2013 issue. While donning a gorgeous Gucci gown for the Mario Sorrenti-shot spread, the “Ain’t It Funny” songstress opened up about her love for dance and her first time in Los Angeles.
Check out a few highlights from Miss Lopez’s interview below. For more, be sure to visit W magazine!
On her fallout with her mother over dance:
“My mom and I butted heads. I didn’t want to go to college – I wanted to try dance full-time. So she and I had a break. I started sleeping on the sofa in the dance studio. I was homeless, but I told her, ‘This is what I have to do.’ A few months later, I landed a job dancing in Europe. When I got back, I booked ‘In Living Color.’ I became a Fly Girl and moved to L.A. It all happened in a year.”
On her first impression of L.A.:
“I hated L.A. I was asking,’Where’s the store for milk? Don’t you guys walk on the street?’ Now I love Los Angeles, but it doesn’t give me strength the way the Bronx did. All the strength that I needed for life, I got from that neighborhood.”
“I think a lot about teaching my kids to work hard. I’ve learned something about kids – they don’t do what you say; they do what you do. I watched my parents. My dad worked nights, and I was aware of how much he was doing for us. My mom was a Tupperware lady and also worked at the school. I always felt that I couldn’t let them down. And I had a natural discipline from early on. I was always training for something.”

Jennifer Lopez is taking back her musical birthday wishes for Turkmenistan leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow. The superstar, 43, was in the former Soviet bloc country on Saturday June 29, and sang “Happy Birthday” to dictator Berdimuhamedow during an event hosted by the China National Petroleum Corp. — but Lopez says she was unaware of Berdimuhamedow’s egregious human rights violations, and has apologized through her rep.
Turkmenestan is described by Human Rights Watch as “among the most repressive [countries] in the world,” with a United Nations rep noting just last month that “a lot more work is needed” the nation to reach “international standards.”
The “Dance Again” singer’s told the Associated Press that the event was vetted by Lopez’s staff. “Had there been knowledge of human rights issues any kind, Jennifer would not have attended,” said the rep.
Thor Halvorssen of the Human Rights Foundation told the Hollywood Reporter: “Lopez obviously has the right to earn a living performing for the dictator of her choice and his circle of cronies. But her actions utterly destroy the carefully crafted message she has cultivated with her prior involvement with Amnesty International’s programs in Mexico aimed at curbing violence against women.”

It seems as though each day a new celebrity is under fire for their actions, and now Jennifer Lopez is the latest to receive backlash for a performance she gave in Turkmenistan on Saturday (June 29).
JLo was on hand for the country’s leader Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov’s birthday celebration, where she did a set of her hits before singing “Happy Birthday” to the man who is considered to be one of the most oppressive leaders in the world by Human Rights Watch.
A spokesperson for Ms. Lopez issued a statement saying that Jennifer never would have agreed to sing at the event had she known about Berdymukhamedov’s history of human rights violations.
Check out the official statement from the singer’s camp below:
“Jennifer Lopez and several other artists were invited and performed at a private corporate event for the China National Petroleum Corporation that was presented to their local executives in Turkmenistan.
This was not a government sponsored event or political in nature. The event was vetted by her representatives, had there been knowledge of human right issues of any kind, Jennifer would not have attended.
The China National Petroleum Corporation made a last minute ‘birthday greeting’ request prior to Jennifer taking the stage. This was not stipulated in her contract but she graciously obliged the China National Petroleum Corporation request.”
